January 2011

Hi All

Happy new year to everybody! I hope you all have had a great start to 2011.

Well so far a good start to 2011 for me and the rides I have for the season, with Mrs Gaussens Star having qualified for the Elementary Winter Dressage regionals and he is winning at Medium level, her other dressage horse Marky is working well at Ad Medium level and now having got the changes sorted we are hoping to have a try at a PSG soon!! Mrs Gaussen also has a young mare that I have been working with and we hope to get her out to a little dressage show shortly.

T-J has been a little star so far with a win and a second at Allens Hill Equestrian centre”Eventers training” classes, which I have to say are great fun and also very educational, friendly and great atmosphere. T-J’s owner, Pam Davidson and I have made some plans for him this year which look very exciting, including a trip to Blair Castle three day as well as Barbury and some NRF’s that he has qualified for which hopefully will culminate in a trip to Gatcombe champs as well…So it looks like I will have to be a bit careful where I agree to judge this year as need to get this talented horse to all the events he needs to further his education and qualifications, tho I have asked to “Shadow judge” at Badminton as part of my judgy education!

Tim’ Downes young NZ TB had proved with the work we did with him last year that he was well worth having his wind operated on so he can now breath!! We will hopefully be ready for some events in the early part of the season and maybe have a trip to acompany T-J to Blair, if he is ready for the one star by that time.

I sold my young Murphy to a lovely family in Bershire and I wish Georgina and Murphy the best of luck for the future, they certainly seemed to get on very well and I hear regularly how much they love each other…. I will come and visit soon Georgina I promise!! Have a great year!

My new yougster is just in the process of getting back into work and will be out and about as soon as he is ready. Thanks Sarah, I do believe that Otis will be a lot of fun, I have given him plenty of time and it has paid off as he seems very relaxed about life…. most of the time anyway! It’s his 4th birthday in Feb better have a party!

We had a really good clinic at East Soley with the Berkshire Riding Club, many thanks to Linda Waller for her Expert organization and to all the riders that were a pleasure to work with, I am looking forward to the next clinics!

I am also looking forward to a new clinic at the North Allerton Equestrian Centre in North Yorks were I will have a two day clinic in early Feb and March, I am keen to see your new place Margo, can’t wait!

Tim and I go back to Portugal to judge for the “Sunshine tour” again in February so lets hope that it is more of a sunshine tour this year as last year it was sooooo wet we all helped move the cross country in between classes!!

Tomorrow I will be test pilot for the “Solution Saddles” latest model of their treeless Jumping saddle and I hope they are going to leave one with me to ride all my horses in as the horses are certainly going more freely in the treeless dressage saddle I ride them all in now, how exciting!! But I hope I just don’t get jumped off!!

Very best of luck to everyone for the season and I look forward to helping my many regulars with their horses this season, I hope those of you with new young horses Sue with Billy, Margaret with your new one I have not met yet! Donna with your lovely young coloured chap and Deborah with your new Rosie all have a good start, Janice and Serenity have made their debut in the Elementary Dressage arena to go along with their eventing… great and well done to you all.

Thats about it for now, but please do post on here if any of you would like to!

Cheers Andrew
