2013 here we come!

Horses in Training Posted on Tue, February 05, 2013 23:31:42

Hi all I will be posting here a bit of news about the horses I have to compete with this year!

Some of you will know Otis, the young horse I acquired from Sarah Bailey, and who I had my Whoopsy off when I broke my leg…. Yes I still have him and he was ridden quite a bit last year by Giovanni Mereu who was based with us at Ingestre, until recently. Otis has had some time off over the winter and is now back into work with me, and is settling into his work in a much more mature way. I have always felt that there is a nice horse in there and the time we have taken with him is looking like it has paid dividends, here is a pic of him at his first dressage competition.

I did some work with a mare called Millie and will be helping the owner, Vicki Waring with her again this year and hopefully will be doing some more events with her, she is a fun mare. Here is a photo of her.

Burt is a rising five year old bred at Ingestre and is by Landtanzer out of an intermediate mare, so he has the breeding and I am very excited about this young horse, he has extremely good paces, a very good technique jumping a fun character to work with, so I can’t wait to get out and see what he thinks of cross country… if the weather will be more helpful there may be a xc school open soon!!?? He has been out to some dressage competitions and had wins on good marks! Here is an early photo and I will get more as and when.

Theo is a little more experienced and has done a few events with Giovanni last season, having also evented a bit before he came to Ingestre, so I am hoping that we will hit it off together and be able to progress through the season and time will tell how far we get, he is a lot of fun and I love jumping him, though have only jumped him once last summer, he is getting fit again and am looking forward to starting jumping him again in prep for our first event. I have no pics with me on him yet, but here is a photo with Ruth Stack, riding him in the SNOW today! Ruth is based at Ingestre and will be helping me with his work and will compete him in some dressage and maybe some jumping, when I am involved in other stuff.

More news and photos to come as and when.

Cheers Andrew

Blog repaired!

News Posted on Tue, February 05, 2013 22:26:51

Well at last I have done something about getting my Blog repaired and many thanks to Phil Howell, yet again for his help with this!!

Another new year and lets hope that we all have a better year with the weather and can get out to more competitions etc, weather just at the moment could please be looking more positively like it is going to co-operate…. PLEASE!!

I know that I really really must make more of an effort with this blog and please if anyone wishes to make comments or ask for an opinion/ advice on anything please do post on my blog!

It looks like I will have an exciting year with the horses I have to ride and I have also had some nice invites to judge, both at horse trials and dressage, I will be doing some of the BD Regional championships and April looks set to be a busy month as I am at the BD Winters, directly followed by Belton CIC3*, then the following weekend Tim and I have both been invited back to Ballindenisk, an extremely hospitable and enjoyable event in Southern Ireland, the following weekend I have a clinic in Wales, then off to Judge the Grass Roots Champs at Badminton in the week and straight off to coach at the BD Central Camp organised by the terribly efficient Kim Maloney! May not be getting many events ridden that month!

I will post a bit of news on the horses that I have to compete with in the “horses in training” blog for anyone that would like to see news about them.

I am also going to have a go at “refreshing” the main pages of my website so that it is more up to date and hope that I don’t wreck it lol

Nice to be back on here and please do put on any news you have!

Cheers Andrew
